Seeing Percy fail to stop Anders’ control of his friends had our eyes glued to the screen. When that doesn’t work, he charms Percy’s allies to his dirty work, beginning with the intimidating Grog. Anders brings suits of armor to life to do his bidding, making the fight more even. And that power was absolutely terrifying. Once a teacher to Percy and Cassandra, he betrayed the de Rolo family to benefit his own pursuit of power. It’s a fun, blood-soaked fight that ends with the fantastic reveal that Percy’s sister is still alive.Įach name on Percy’s list is that of a savage villain, but there was something specifically satisfying about Professor Anders’ end. Keyleth, growing ever fiercer, transforms into a tiger while Percy gets to cross off the first name on the list of those who murdered his family. Scanlan and Grog continue to offer great comedic relief the Bard creates a copy of himself while the Barbarian gets distracted by barrels of ale. What follows is a riveting close quarters brawl with incredible spells and visceral violence. By teaming up with a group of Whitestone rebels, the team leads a jailbreak to save Percy’s childhood friend, Archie. Vox Machina aren’t the only ones who want to see the Briarwoods brought down. They even lose their recently acquired bag of loot. But the group loses Delilah’s book and nearly tumbles off the side of a cliff. Keyleth’s defense of Vax and Grog literally ripping a wolf to shreds are definite highlights. After kidnapping Scanlan, the wolves lead the group on a thrilling chase. Delilah sends a pack of undead wolves after the group and the tense build up to the reveal of their horrific design is palpable. But they soon learn the road is a dangerous place, especially if an absurdly powerful magical person wants you dead. With the season’s main arc fully underway, Vox Machina heads to Whitestone to put an end to the Briarwoods’ evil schemes. If not for Keyleth’s light-summoning spell to weaken their intruders, they may have succumbed. It’s a thrilling, chilling sequence that sees the team narrowly avoid defeat. The ghosts’ design is undeniably creepy and they seem to have the upper hand as they burst into the keep, dealing significant necrotic damage to most team members. She sends a horde of ghosts after the confined team, which leads to some pretty brutal deaths of the men guarding them. But Delilah isn’t one to forgive and forget, especially once she realizes the group has stolen her book. The show’s fourth episode sees Vox Machina on lockdown after seemingly spoiling Uriel’s feast. This fight, although short, also shows that the team has a lot of growing to do if they hope to conquer their foes. Delilah’s ability to easily deflect and dodge attacks and Sylus’ cursed sword, which slices and dices poor Grog, show how powerful the duo is. Vox Machina soon realizes how severely outmatched they are compared to Delilah’s magic and Sylus’ vampiric speed and strength. Sadly, the rogue is caught and a fight ensues. During a banquet at Sovereign Uriel’s palace, Percy tells his allies of their wickedness, leading Vax to sneak off and search their room.
